About our Or Tora

Playful learning of Jewish life and Judaism

We would like to briefly introduce our Or Torah:

Our evening colloquium (Shiurium) is also open to the children of our community. Here we offer the opportunity to learn more about Judaism and to understand faith as an important building block for everyday life. In a personally designed lesson, we bring the Torah closer to the children as well as the wisdom of the Talmud. Our school includes preparation for the Bar Mitzvah as well as a more intensive study of the basics of Judaism.

Afterwards, a game program provides variety, ranging from a raffle to table football, as well as a tasting with snacks and drinks. Pizza is served once or twice a week.

The alternation of learning and playing is particularly important to us. It strengthens the community, strengthens friendships, promotes trust in one another and offers the young people a beautiful and fun end to the day.

The Or Torah is for male youth from 10 to 15 years of age, always from Sunday to Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The best preacher is the heart, the best teacher is time, the best book is the world, the best friend is God. (wisdom from the Talmud)

Girl' school (Midrasha)

Here they can drop by after school, are welcomed in a friendly manner, there is food and drink, games are played and the Torah is discussed with them. We value the separation of boys and girls so that the purity of hearts and thoughts is preserved until the wedding and is untouched by other influences.

We are trying to attract more girls to our Midrasha and want to build up a new generation that we support in studying the Torah and Talmud. A study of the Torah and especially the Talmud represents a valuable, important building block for future life and enriches a later marriage and family formation. The Motaev family stuck together and by joining forces the synagogue and the Shaarey Ovadia association could continue. Til today. And Israel Motaev lives on in that legacy, as in his children and memories.
